Judge Robert Kautz today ordered that the confession made to police by arson suspect Richard Needham be suppressed. Needham is charged with first-degree arson and third-degree burglary in the October downtown fire. The $1 million fire displaced eight businesses and left 30 people homeless.

A preliminary resolution was passed by the Baxter city council last night authorizing the city to issue $2.5 million in industrial revenue bonds for Mills Properties. Tom Green, of Mills, said the firm planned to construct a 120,000-square-foot building on Excelsior Drive near Pauline's Restaurant.

For the second straight week the Warrior starters played less than half the game as Brainerd crushed Staples 76-37 in conference action. And for the third week a different Warrior scored at least 20 points, this time Gerry Blanck with exactly 20. Brainerd continued to show good passing and strong work on the boards.

(Photo) Believe it or not, the driver of this car is at work today. Judge D.H. Fullerton, Brainerd, was driving on the Merrifield Road when he struck a horse, which flipped over the radiator and smashed down on his car. The horse is dead, the car is a mess, but Judge Fullerton crawled out and is presiding over district court in Aitkin today.

Arthur J. Tifer, charged with evading a room and board bill at the home of Ole Knutson, 213 N. 9th Street, was taken in custody by Officer Erick Graff as he was about to escape Brainerd on a night train.
